Finer feelings

"Finer Feelings" is the name of Kylie Minogue's single from 1992 and was, surprisingly, Kylie's lowest charting single at that point of her career. I randomly came across the official video of this song just a week ago and it inspired me to look for pictures and editorials that are atmospheric, soft and those which capture "finer feelings" Kylie is singing about. Also, the music video was filmed in Paris, the city of love and the birthplace of fashion. Fashion wouldn't be what it is today, if it wasn't for French couture. French couture includes a variety of garments which are noticeably feminine in touch and sophistication. French designs always knew how to capture the sensual and seductive attraction of a woman, while at the same making women the symbols of modern independence.

Kylie Minogue became an inspiration to many French designers very early on in her music career and has stayed their muse for decades. Her sophisticated look, the softness of her voice, the simplicity and sincerity of her persona - made her a music icon.
The single "Finer Feelings" was re-recorded in 2011 and posted on Kylie's YouTube channel, where she's performing at the well known Abbey Road Studios in London. The new interpretations of her numerous songs will be a part of her upcoming compilation album called "K25". Kylie has been recording acoustic and orchestral versions of some of her iconic songs for use in a special project to celebrate her 25th year in music in 2012.

Finer Feelings

 You can't give to me
Anything
I couldn't get for myself
I have needs as much as any man
And I understand the feelings well

I can still have a true heart
With a free mind
A good life
With a good time

But what is love
Without the finer feelings ...

It All Belongs To Me

Lately I've been a bit slow with my posts, spring time is almost here and I should be full of new ideas and feel freshly inspired but instead, I feel a lack of inspiration...
Lack of inspiration is a tricky thing for writers, bloggers - artists in general. It can last several years and can happen to every creator, without exception - especially if you strive to be the best at what you do (there are a lot of us perfectionists out there right?). I get ideas every day but I'm just so caught up in developing the perfect concept that I forget that thinking won't get me very far and I have to act upon it. Thinking alone gets us nowhere if we don't do anything to make things happen in terms of doing the practical work.
Recently I stumbled on a new single of two r'n'b divas - Brandy&Monica. Remember the duet "The Boy Is Mine"? The reactions to their old and new colaboration are very positive - their voices, although different, go together perfectly. Of course, they both have separate careers as solo singers. It's interesting that also both of them are underrated as artists although I can't think of one reason why their careers aren't huge as Beyonce's.
I still don't understand why people can't recognize a good artist by their songs but by the amount of publicity they get.
I combined the next fashion editorial from Vogue Germany March 2012 (with aspiring model Lais Ribeiro) with some old editorials from Brandy Norwood. Let's say the lack of my personal inspiration was boosted with the lack of attention this female artist gets, when it would be only fair that she is as big, if not bigger, than some of the most famous r'n'b artists in the world. We all know that there is enough space for ten of them, not just few of them. Let's hope that the upcoming albums of Brandy and Monica which should be released this year will put both of the singers under the spotlight, where they belong.

Brandy&Monica's "reunion":  on February 10th 2012 they released the single "It All Belongs To Me"

Monica’s "New Life" will be in stores next month and Brandy’s upcoming album "Two Eleven" will be released soon. The Rico Love produced song “It All Belongs To Me” will appear on both of their albums.

Brandy's styling (big necklace, black leather) reminds of the one Whitney Houston presented in her 1999 video for the single "It's Not Right but It's Ok". Plus the "bad" attitude in both songs is a reflection of bad relationships. To sum it all up - the single for "It All Belongs To Me" is dedicated to the recently deceased diva - Whitney Houston. It all belonged to her.
