Wearing Wanderlust: Take me away: Santorini dreaming

Whenever I feel a lack of inspiration I visit Tumblr or Pinterest and just browse through the picture banks available. Just randomly, I found this picture of a laptop showing a certain blog/site ...

... curious as I am, I googled the name "Wearing Wanderlust" and came across this wonderful Santorini post, which can give you wonderful decor ideas for your home ... enjoy

Sitting high on the southern western tip of Santorini, this luxurious yet blissful villa offers guests a immense amount of beauty all in one glorious location. Set above and beyond one of the most iconic buildings - The lighthouse of Santorini, the house is truly engulfed by the most breathtaking of views which I am only dreaming of on this overcast Brisbane saturday.

Light pale walls, flooring and furnishings all leave little to the imagination and create a very simplistic, gorgeous and even elegant feeling within all five bedrooms and living areas within this villa. The minimalism is the perfect contrast to the striking views of the Italian coast line seen from all corners of this Villa.

... I am dreaming of the sunshine radiating off the white stone building, peering through the window at sunset to see the hues of dark purples, pinks and blues spiralling across the sky and reflecting in the vastness of the ocean - Or simply sitting in the lounge room with people I love, cooking up an Italian feast in the kitchen, enjoying it in the rays of sunshine by the pool and sipping an ice cold drink while all the while feeling at ease and happy.

This track would fit in perfectly...  Dumb Dan - Ele (Jesper Samuelson 2013 Remix):
p.s. - be sure to stop the default track above before listening loll

A Million Lights and a million colors

Miss Cheryl Cole (thesedays only Cheryl) maybe doesn't have Mariah's vocal range or Gwyneth Paltrow's refined style but she sure has all the other relevant factors covered with her newest album.
Cheryl recorded her third solo album in London, New York and LA with collaborators including Alex Da Kid, will.i.am, Lana Del Rey, Jim Beanz and UK's Calvin Harris co-produced her lead single "Call My Name".
The fact that she looks like a million dollars helps too plus she keeps wearing a million colors! She is on a neon color craze at the moment. All the right ingredients are here and the result is the album called "A Million Lights".
When you've got that much millions standing beside your name - you obviously can't go wrong no matter what people say.
Cheryl came a long way since her membership in English-Irish pop girl group Girls Aloud. It's not that often that a singer who starts her career in a pop group ends up as a world known solo artist, this girl is clearly an exception.
Brian Atwood - Alima neon patent-leather pumps Cheryl wore in her official video "Call My Name"

Along with the neon colored heels, this season you can combine anything with everything. Well actually, you can do that whenever - but this time you won't be declared as loony.
Postcard prints, tropical and animal patterns continue to turn up the heat of the summer and you can mix'n'match them all together if you want to escape the usual you.

Fashionwise, the look in the music video is eclectic and wild just like the trends for the upcoming fashion season - there are no rules.
Hasan Hejazi is a UK based womenswear designer and is momentarily dressing some of the hottest celebrities including Jessie J, Kylie Minogue, Fergie and Cheryl. Here is his blog called "Hasan Hejazi sees it!"

And this is how Hasan sees Cheryl:

The song "Screw You" (ft Wretch 32) is on Cheryl's new album "A Million Lights".

No taste at all you say? - It's just a fashion trend !

If you're not a fan of prints, you can always go with neon colors. Get inspired by this fashion editorial from Vogue Spain, June 2012.

Start Making Sense

He is a UK based DJ, musician, radio broadcaster, producer and a journalist. He calls himself a renaissance man. His name is Chris Coco and if you are a fan of chillout house music this won't be the first time you've heard about this man. His radio show, Melodica, is growing from it’s online home on Mixcloud and radio base on Ibiza Sonica to include broadcasts in cities from Sydney to Istanbul to Chicago. In 2010 Melodica was shortlisted for a BT Digital Music award for best radio show or podcast. The Guardian called it “the hazy, lazy sound of the summer”. You can listen to the latest episode every week at www.mixcloud.com/chriscoco/.

Chris Coco's web site includes his own blog which stands as a platform for expressing his thoughts about life in general. From a journalist's aspect, he nourishes a holistic approach towards the work he does. On his blog you can find breathtaking but yet real photographs; as a writer Coco can be a rolemodel for every journalist, blogger or writer.
My own personal intention, when I create my posts, is to produce a honest and unique reading which will inspire or motivate a person to think about life and all those things which are important to the the body and soul of a human being. Music is always my first and foremost inspiration, photos follow the visual idea behind the thoughts just like a good music video makes a perfect partner for an audio track. Also, fashion somehow always finds it's way to infiltrate the whole story ... "We live in a visual culture" - says Chris Coco in one of his blog posts:

"I spend most of my work time listening to music, playing music to other people, trying to make music or trying to get music I have made used for various things, including advertisements. In the last couple of years I have also spent a lot of time trying to work out why music doesn’t seem to be as important as it used to be.
Now, I think that it is partly to do with the ease with which it can be acquired. A digital file that can be copied infinitely will ultimately have no value. When music was hard to find and had to be bought on a physical format it was much more something to be treasured. It was a rare commodity with a high value, and that high monetary value added to the emotional impact of the limited number of songs that you could listen to. When you found something that resonated with you, you listened to it again and again, from beginning to end.
It’s also because we live in a visual culture. Most of our interactions are on a screen and a screen, by definition, needs images. Sound is good too, but it’s not essential. Music is often an add-on to enhance the image rather than the end in it’s own right. Look at any serious review of Lady Gaga and it is likely to say – well, her music is gash electropop, but what about her image. Wow, she wears different clothes each time she goes out."

Having read this words you can understand that fashion became just a mean for selling a product. That's why I feel a bit discusted by fashion thesedays. Not by the fabrics, colors and shapes of the clothes but by people who ruin the philosophy behind fashion. Fashion is _____ a blankness, an emptiness, just a viod without it's own purpose. We should want to wear clothes because we like the clothes and not because we like the product called "Rihanna". Fashion should never be about copy pasting something.
Well, if I HAD to copy something, I would copy the scenary of a certain place - like Santorini - and transform and use that idea to inspire my styling ...

The following photos are taken from Chris Coco's blog. The pictures were taken by Coco himself and they represent alternative views of Santorini ... it's the less fancy but yet beautiful and casual side of the island.
I especially like the old locks on wooden doors.

This summer at Tisno, Croatia,  from 2 - 6 August, "Stop Making Sense" Festival will be held.
Chris Coco will also be there playing daytime sets. The festival will be held on a ship which will be cruising the coast plus at the beaches. The event is promoted by an English team and is popular among young English tourists who love partying at the beautiful Croatian coast.
It's a must see, so see you there!
